Condiment Prep: Healthy & Fuss-free Chilli Paste

January 24, 2019 · Aqilah Norazman ·

Heyyyyy folks! How’s everyone’s week going?

I’m rocking it right now in the Middle East but I’m sooo honoured to share with you a condiment I made a few weeks ago which I gotta say โ€” a must have in your fridge/freezer especially if you’re a huge fan of chillies (please… who isn’t!?).

Chilli paste is no stranger in a Malay household. If we live with our parents or grandparents, chances are there’s always a ready to cook chilli paste in the fridge. Now because I don’t live with them, I am one of those people who buys packed chilli paste from our grocery shops.

Since I’ve discovered this recipe, I can’t believe how much I’ve been missing out. In a health perspective, I absolutely love having complete control over what I put into my body as much as I can which means, making your own paste means you know what’s in it. Plus one serve of this contains just under 70 calories!

In a convenience perspective, it’s so easy to make and it doesn’t take any longer than 10 minutes!

I use chilli paste in a lot of my cooking like in this recipe and this recipe so give this condiment a shot, keep it in the fridge or freezer and toss them into your cooking when you need it. Guys, if I can make chilli paste… so can you okay lol.

Oh just putting it out there, you can also have this chilli paste as a dip, marinade your protein, in your sandwiches and more… so nope it’s not just for cooking okay. It’s a huge flavour hit because everything with chilli just tastes so much better.

Btw, this paste using this recipe is pretty damn spicy. So feel free to remove the seeds from the dried chillies if you want to hold the spice or don’t have to add the red chillies (i.e. the dried chillies is enough). The recipe is good to make into a 450g mason jar and hey… if you have friends who loves chillies, you can snap on a ribbon and give this as a gift. Ideas!!!

So go give it a try. Give me a holler on Instagram if you made this and let’s all always have chilli paste in our home. Because chilli is love. And love is love. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Healthy & Fuss-free Chilli Paste

This recipe yields one 16 oz jar or approximately 450g of chilli paste. The nutrition information is based on 45g serving or 10 serves.

๐Ÿœ๐Ÿ˜‹ KIMCHI CHICKEN UDON! 515 calories, 40g pr ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿ˜‹ KIMCHI CHICKEN UDON! 515 calories, 40g protein, 36g carbs and 22g fats and makes two meals for #mealprep. This right here is super yummy and super worth it.

I was inspired to make a chicken version of this after trying it out with scallops as the protein source. But I wanted to boost the protein content so chicken it is. It has a tinge of sourness from the kimchi but it goes so well with the cooking cream and udon. Give it a try!

And yes, I know itโ€™s been a while. ๐Ÿ˜ญ HELLO AGAIN!

200g udon, cooked according to package
400g chicken breast, sliced
100ml cooking cream
1 tbsp evoo
1 red onion sliced
2 tbsp minced garlic
200g kimchi

๐Ÿ˜‹ Save this post for future reference!

Okay I have to share a disclaimer - this is not the authentic recipe. Please donโ€™t go keyboard warrior on me! I just felt like having this in the weekend and tweaked it to make it healthier and itโ€™s not as bad!

Felt like I needed some naan with this one though but canโ€™t be bothered to find some so basmati rice it is. I actually have made this before and it is up on my blog - just search for Chicken Tikka Masala and I love that I could just replicate this recipe and it turned out pretty much the same ๐Ÿค“

So according to that recipe I did this baby here has about 290+ calories but whoโ€™s counting anyway? Hehe. Anyway go make this one and be awesome. Stay gold you and Asian Meal Prep on! #asianmealprep #chickentikkamasala
Get ready to save this for your salmon ๐Ÿฃ days! Get ready to save this for your salmon ๐Ÿฃ days! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ

Salmon for breakfast? Heck yeah! My appetite for breakfast has been quite an exploration lately. Some days I crave for carbs, some days I donโ€™t actually want carbs. Some days I feel like cheese. Other days, I actually woke up feeling like having salmon.

So, why not?! ๐Ÿ˜‚ super easy one with just few ingredients for all the lazy people out there like me wanting to eat nutritiously but canโ€™t be bothered cooking. Of course I made it Asian with chilli, as always.

Eggs
Salmon
Spinach
Tomatoes

Lemme know with a ๐Ÿ”ฅ if youโ€™ll make this! #asianmealprep
Get ready to save this one in case you have some l Get ready to save this one in case you have some leftover pasta sauce hanging around in your fridge! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Canโ€™t find a better name for this one except for Salmon Zoodles with random Pasta Sauce and Ricotta. Naming recipes has always been pretty mysterious for me, but here goes!

No random pasta sauce? No worries just leave it out. Iโ€™m just having fun trying and experimenting things right now as I slowly go back into creating content. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Anyway, zoodles are weird for me. Still canโ€™t get how people can replace noodles with zoodles but please someone remind me not to get it again ever (I never learn) lol.

Enjoy, save, share and like if this was useful. #asianmealprep
