Hello. I’m Aqilah.
I’m a Nutrition and a Strength & Conditioning Coach, an entrepreneur, a business owner and a student.
I also love to cook and prep my meals. And I make it, cheap, fast and nutritious.
Some time in February 2010, I was diagnosed by my doctor as being clinically obese. This was how I looked like.
I’d say that was my A-ha moment in weight loss, being 19 at that time and having difficulties even keeping up with climbing up the stairs. The problem is, I didn’t know what to do then. I wanted to lose weight but I was lost.
I knew I had to exercise, but the exercise bit was taken care of by my brother who acted as a mentor back then.
But I also knew I had to eat well.
So I picked out a book – or a nutrition guide, stuck through a 1200-calorie diet and in 8 months time, I lost 20 kilos and ran my first 10km race in 1:01.
Somehow after I’ve lost weight, I had difficulty maintaining it. I was hungry all the time, I fell into intense guilt if I consumed anything more than 1200-calories in day and I was faced with a much bigger problem than the weight loss itself – I can’t maintain the weight. Between battling a mild eating disorder and my career as a personal trainer in 2011, I tried on pretty much every single diets there are in this planet to maintain the 20 kilos lost – from meal replacement shakes to tea detoxes, to Paleo, to Atkins, to very low calorie diets but nothing really sticks.
Until I decided to study nutrition.
That’s when my life changed 360 degrees.
I believe that the only way one can change their life is to change from the inside – by paying respect to their body my being active and vital all the time, and by choosing whole, nutritious foods at least 80% of the time.

They say eating healthy in Asia is nearly impossible. It’s expensive, fresh foods are difficult to get, and really – why eat healthy when we can have all this delicious and cheap street food around us.
But I want to turn that around.
